Cream Cheese Frosting


Within the bowl of your stand mixer equipped with a paddle attachment beat the butter at medium speed until it is smooth approximately 1 minute. Lower the mixer's speed, then add the confectioners' sugar and beat until it is all combined Stopping the mixer and scraping down to the bottom of the bowl when necessary. 

Add vanilla and salt and turn the speed up to medium-high. Incorporate the cream cheese 1 teaspoon at a stretch until completely combined, and there are no traces of cream cheese are left, approximately 2 minutes. Increase the speed to high, then add the cream and beat until well-combined for 30 to 45 seconds.

1 cup (8 oz/250 g) unsalted butter, at room temperature 
3 cups (12 oz/375 g) confectioners’ sugar
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 lb (500 g) cold cream cheese
2 tablespoons heavy cream
